SEU Abandoned Traditional Method In its Independent Admission Examination

In the Independent Admission Examination on 7th April,Southeast University abandoned the traditional accumulative method and applied the “Nonlinear Combination Method” for the very first time, making itself become a pioneer in the reform against the ruling of scores.

According to Liu Bo, the Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of SEU, the so called “Nonlinear Combination Method” is a more scientific way to determine a student’s interview results by ranking them into different levels. The levels of the students will affect their written test results by upgrade or downgrade them.

Zhong Weijun, the director of Higher Education Research Institute of SEU, interpreted the essence of this exam, “ We would like to analyze the examinees’ cognitive skill and innovative capability through relatively routine questions. If the questions are too strange, they may restrain the examinees from showing themselves. Therefore, we hope they can sufficiently display themselves, especially their unique talents.”

An examinee named Cao Dongnan said, “The Independent Admission Examination has provided a convenient and practical platform for us. It is an unforgettable opportunity and also a huge challenge in my life.”
